READING, PA -- King’s Promotions brings for the first time to the Reading area, an amateur mixed martial arts/professional boxing card to be held at the Sovereign Center on Saturday May 30th. In a special promotion, the first 500 tickets sold will be buy one, get one free of equal value. “Times are tough right now for everyone,” stated Marshall Kauffman, head of King’s Promotions. “We are offering this special deal to make it easier for boxing and MMA fans to enjoy a night out and as a way of saying thanks to everyone who has supported us in our previous events.”
The hybrid Boxing/MMA event will mix the two disciplines in one exciting night of non-stop action. Mixed martial arts has been enjoying increasing popularity in recent years, and King’s Promotions hopes it will be a good opportunity to introduce boxing fans to MMA and MMA fans to boxing. The boxing portion will consist of six professional bouts, headlined by Reading’s own rising heavyweight prospect Travis Kauffman. Kauffman (16-0, 13 KOs) made his national TV debut in December on Shobox: The Next Generation with a third round knockout of Malachy Farrell. Since then he scored two early knockouts over Ken Murphy and Cliff Clouser. The boxing co-feature will include Julio Cesar Matthews (7-0, 5 KOs), fresh off a unanimous decision over William Gill at the Blue Horizon in Philadelphia. Also featured will be the return of Reading favorite Craig Tomlinson after a five year absence from the ring. Local crowd pleasers Jason Cintron, Keenan Collins and Lucian Gonzalez will also fight in the boxing portion. The MMA portion will consist of ten amateur bouts, featuring local fighters representing Anthracite Combat Club and The Cage MMA Academy, as well as combatants from the surrounding area, including Jvolutionary Ground Control and Vicious MMA.
