Pittsburgh Based MMA Movie hosts Special Event on May 30th, 2009

Pennsylvania native, Mac Danzig, featured on the UFC 100 card in Vegas

"Of no relation to the famous lead singer of The Misfits, this Danzig is by far the most experienced combatant on The Ultimate Fighter, with over twenty professional matches under his belt.  A strict vegetarian and nature lover, Danzig’s first love was skateboarding, and he was a sponsored amateur during his teenage years.   In 2000, Danzig traded in his skateboard for the mats of Casey Leonard’s gym in Pittsburgh, learning a great deal about BJJ under his tutelage.  A year later, he left the Steel City behind to fight on the amateur circuit in Iowa before moving to California in 2002."

Mac Danzig, the Ultimate Fighter Season 6 winner will be facing Jim Miller, a BJJ Brown Belt whose no stranger to the Octagon. This touted 155lb match will take place July 11th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Cage Fight 1 set for June 12th, 2009 in Scranton, Pa.

Northeast MMA is proud to present Cage Fight 1, NEPA's first Pro MMA Cage Fight to be held since MMA's legalization in the state of Pennsylvania. This event will take place June 12th 2009 at Riverfront Sports Complex on West Olive Street in Scranton, PA.

Be prepared as Scranton comes alive with top MMA fighting action with a Pro MMA fight card comprised of 6 fights including local Pro Boxing favorite, Marty Flynn making his debut as an MMA professional. The main event will feature Ultimate Fighter Robbie Houston (5-2) vs. Erik "Chainsaw" Charles (10-2), the former Ultimate Fighter 7 competitor, in a middleweight bout. Spencer “The Punisher” Paige (5-2) will oppose another ultimate fighter, Danny “Little Thunder” Balon (10-2), in a featherweight bout.

The Pennsylvania Combat Sports Training Center is coming soon to Greensburg, Pa

 

May 29th, 2009: The Pennsylvania Combat Sports Training Center will take its first step with the acquisition of a 13,000 square foot property located in the heart of Westmoreland County just 2 blocks from the courthouse in Greensburg, Pa.

This premier facility will offer exclusive training in MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Wrestling, No-Gi Submission Grappling, Muay Thai...and everything else Combat Sports!

The Main Training Level will feature a 24 foot event style Octagon Cage and PA Athletic Commission approved Boxing Ring. The size of the Main Training Level will also lend itself as a Combat Sports event center for tournaments, seminars, wrestling camps, and possibly even MMA shows.

The PACS Training Center will also have a dedicated CrossFit Affiliate gym co-located in its facility. CrossFit is a premier training program for those seeking to reach the top rung in elite fitness. With Certified CrossFit Instructors available for individual or group sessions, we expect to see dramatic performance gains from PACS fighters!

Kumite Classic Tournament at Pittsburgh Hilton August 21-23 2009

Kumite Classic Entertainment Corp. presents the 2009 Kumite Classic BJJ GI & NO GI Grappling Championships. This tournament is part of a weekend full of fitness and world class martial arts competition.  REGISTER!  If you missed the pre-registration date, sign up at the tournament. The Kumite Classic is the largest grappling event ever held in Pennsylvania. Academies from across the United States, Brazil, Canada and Mexico have been represented.

-Friday-Sunday: Registration & Weigh-ins 

-Saturday:  BJJ GI Competition

-Sunday:  NO GI Grappling Competition

Both Gi and No-Gi Divisions are developed for Men, Women, Children, Teen and Masters, with skill levels of Novice, Intermediate and Advanced for No-Gi and Belt Rankings of white, blue, purple, brown and black for Gi Divisions.  Age and weight will divide the Children and Teen Divisions, while Women and Masters Divisions will be divided by weight alone.  To assure fairness, competitors will only be allowed to compete at their skill level.  Individual and team trophies will be awarded.

Iron Will Fighting Championship 1 debuts May 16th, 2009

Pennsylvania has joined the growing number of states to allow Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, events, now that the State Athletic Commission has approved final regulations for the sport to be legal as of February 27, 2009.  And with that ruling, Iron Will Fighting Championship (I.W.F.C.) is proud to bring an action packed fight card to Johnstown’s Cambria County War Memorial...

Ultimate Cage Fighting Challenge at the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh

MMA Fighters Needed For Pittsburgh Based Movie

WARRIOR, a Lionsgate Studios feature film centered on MMA, is looking for trained fighters for gym scenes shooting in Pittsburgh this coming Monday, Tueday, and Wednesday, May 11, 12, and 13th. Interested candidates must be available all three days, and will be paid $100 per day, with no compensation for travel or accomodation. Training scenes will be choreographed by the stunt team from WOLVERINE and will capitalize on each fighter's strengths, there are opportunities for fighters at all levels of training and experience. Cast includes Kurt Angle, Nate Marquardt, Thiago Alves, and Eric Apple.
