On March 5th, 2010 four members of Combative Grappling Systems traveled from Greensburg, Pa to the US Grappling Sub-Only event being held in Ashland, Va. Most of them had never competed in the No Time Limit / Submission Only format, and for one it would be his first tournament ever. The question of conditioning, skill and determination are all ones that competitors asks themselves. No time limits would put all of these to the most extreme test.
By the end of the day on March 6th, after the smoke had cleared, there would be no questioning the men from Team CGS. Their conditioning program was proven when Casey Leonard stepped onto the mat for his first match of the day, in the 30+ Advanced No-Gi Absolute. This would turn into a 1 hour and 3 minute battle with a highly experienced grappler who also had a 40lb weigh advantage. Casey went on to compete in 3 more divisions, spending about 2 hours on the mat in one day!
